What you need to know
If you are staying at the Johari Rotana Hotel, your room rate will include breakfast.
There will be an evening welcome reception on Wednesday 20th November where selected drinks and snacks will be served.
Thursday 21st and Friday 22nd November – teas, coffees and snacks will be served mid-morning and mid-afternoon. Lunch will be included with soft drinks on both days.
There will be a networking dinner with selected drinks included on Thursday 21st November.
Not all nationalities require a tourist (ordinary) visa to visit Tanzania for 30 days. The list below shows countries that do NOT require visas. For those nationalities that do require visas, we strongly advise that you start the visa application process as soon as you know you will be attending the Conference. Applying for an Ordinary (Single Entry) Visa
An application of Ordinary Visa should be accompanied with the following:
- Copy of the applicants valid passport (biographic data page);
- Return ticket of the flight;
- Duly filled in declaration form; and
- USD 50 visa fee.

No special vaccinations are required for those entering Tanzania from the USA, the UK, European Union, or most countries around the globe.
Visitors travelling from or through countries that have Yellow Fever are required to travel with the health identity document showing proof of yellow fever vaccinations.
Tanzania is a high-risk country for Malaria. It is highly recommended to take anti-malaria medication. Dar es Salaam is located in a region where malaria is prevalent.
Here are the steps you should follow to protect yourself contracting Malaria:
- Consult a Healthcare Provider: Before traveling, consult with a healthcare provider to get a prescription for an appropriate anti-malaria medication.
- Start Medication on Time: Depending on the type of medication prescribed, you may need to start taking it a few days before arriving in Tanzania, continue during your stay, and for some days after leaving the malaria-endemic area.
- Other Preventive Measures:
- Use Insect Repellent: Apply insect repellent with DEET on exposed skin.
- Wear Protective Clothing: Wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants, especially during the evening and night when mosquitoes are most active.
- Sleep Under a Mosquito Net: Ensure your sleeping area is protected by an insecticide-treated mosquito net.
The Johari Rotana Hotel can provide airport transfers. The trip with no traffic will take approximately 30 minutes. However, the road from the airport to the hotel can be very congested in the morning and the late afternoon/early evening. It is very important to check with the hotel before your departure to the airport, that the time allotted when you booked the transfer is still valid. When busy, the journey can take over 1.5 hours.
The local currency is the Tanzanian Shilling (TZS) which is broken down into 100 cents. Credit cards are widely used. There are ATMs (cash machines) available to draw cash. There are exchange facilities at the airport and many of the mainstream banks will assist with foreign exchange.
Business casual.
For men this could include trousers, polo shirts or button-down shirts and closed shoes. Ties are optional. National dress is welcome.
For women this could include trousers, skirts or dresses paired with blouses or sweaters. Closed-toe shoes or dressy sandals are typically acceptable. National dress is welcome.

- For porters and bellboys, a tip of about 1,000-2,000 Tanzanian Shillings (TSh) per bag is common.
- For housekeeping, tipping 1,000-2,000 TSh per day is appreciated.
- Safari Guides and Drivers: Tipping is more expected in the tourism sector. For guides and drivers, a tip of about US$10-15 per day is typical, depending on the level of service.
- Taxi Drivers: Tipping is not expected, but rounding up to the nearest convenient amount or leaving a small tip is appreciated.
- Local Markets and Shops: Tipping is not expected.
While tipping is not mandatory, it is a way to show appreciation for good service and is increasingly becoming part of the service culture in tourist areas.
It is generally not recommended to drink tap water due to potential contamination and the risk of waterborne diseases. Bottled water is readily available and affordable. Drinking water will be provided during the conference.

If cancelling outside of 30 days of the conference, a full refund will be available. If cancelling within 30 days, no refund will be made. You are however welcome to send a replacement at no additional charge.
The majority of special dietary requirements can be accommodated. The venue itself has a halaal certified kitchen. There may be additional costs to accommodate some special diets but full quotations will be provided on application.
